On a mellow Friday, today's Angry Fists go out to....

Customers at Jimmy John's who (1) are too stupid to figure out what sandwich they want, (2) don't know how to order said sandwich, and (3) don't have money or a credit card ready at the time of ordering. Eat your lunch at 2:15 or some other time when you and your idiot kids aren't going to gum up the works for people with real lives and things to do.

The sign in my office break room that reads "In Illinois, Women Make 71 cents for every Dollar a Man Makes." It's up there with all the other EEO and minimum wage stuff the government requires workplaces to post. This sign really Frosts my Chaps (or Chaps My Frost, if you will). What that statistic really means is that there are more men working higher paying jobs than women, but what it implies is that for a given job, a man will make 30% more than a woman with that same job. Are we really at the point in our society where we need to obscure facts behind propaganda to get the point across? It's simple to understand, really. Women take maternity leave and time off to have kids, thus losing time in the workplace towards seniority. Additionally, many women with children work reduced hours or more flexible, lower paying jobs to be home with kids. Those are the types of things that lower the average income of women in Illinois, not some antiquated idea that businesses purposefully offer lower wages/salaries to women as part of some discriminatory conspiracy. Jeez.
